Tuning and Pitch Adjustment
Most manufacturers recommend getting your piano tuned every six months. New pianos and those that have not been tuned in a while may require more frequent tuning as they acclimate to their environment. In addition to the musical benefits that come from being in tune, regular tuning ensures a consistent tension on a piano’s soundboard, prolonging the life of your instrument.

Regulation
Pianos contain thousands of moving parts made from a variety of materials including wood, felt, leather, and metal. Over the years, these parts move and change due to wear from use as well as seasonal variance in temperature and humidity. Regulation is the process of bringing each part back where it should be to make your piano as easy to play as when it was new.

Cleaning and Repair
Even the best pianos need maintenance and cleaning to play as they should. Whether it is a slow key, broken string, or an unknown buzz coming from your piano contact Zinner Music to get your piano back into working condition.

Voicing
Does your piano sound overly harsh, dull, or just not to your liking? If so you may consider getting it voiced. This consists of making subtle adjustments to a piano’s hammers to change the tone produced when they strike the strings.

Piano Consulting
Finding the right new or used piano can be overwhelming and expensive. We are happy to assist you with this process and can provide a full examination and assessment of any instrument you are considering to ensure you have the information needed to make an informed decision.

If you have any piano related needs, questions, or concerns feel free to reach out. Even if it’s not something we can do, we do know others within the industry and are happy to put you in touch with some of the best in the region.
Policies and Pricing
Tuning appointments start at $170 and include tuning, local travel, and some minor repairs and maintenance work. If your piano is significantly (10 cents or more) out of tune it may require a pitch adjustment before any tuning can take place. This will incur an additional charge.Travel beyond 30 miles (round trip) can also incur an additional cost.
We do have a minimum service call rate of $100. If during a tuning appointment we find your piano is not tuneable in its current condition you will only be charged the minimum service call rate.
Piano strings are constantly under high tension and do break from time to time. Such breaks are most common when the string tension is adjusted as a part of the tuning process. Bass strings (the longest strings on the piano that are typically wound in copper) are made to unique dimensions for each piano and replacements often require a special order. Due to the variable cost of materials required, string replacement is not included in the normal service charge.
Unless otherwise requested we will tune your piano to a standard pitch of A440 equal temperament. Should you have a special request for a different pitch or temperament though just let us know, we’re happy to work with you.
We currently accept payment in the form of cash, check, and credit/debit. If you need to pay another way please let us know, it is our goal to make your experience as easy as possible.
